Investigators are trying to find out what happened before the collision. Márcio, one of the victims, always complained about the risks on the route between the cities of Itaí and Taguaí. “Every day he complained. Every day the bus breaks down, Every day. I worked there for six and a half years, how many accidents did we have on the road? The firm never took action. Never,” says the widow, Sidinalva Madalena da Silva.
The company, through the lawyer, said at first that the buses were prorated, hired by the employees themselves. Sonia denies it. “No. Just a facade. They were the ones who paid. They put it on the pay stub as if they took it from us, but they didn’t really take it. It was the boss who paid for the bus.”

“All of our dreams were interrupted by recklessness. Not only ours, but all of us on the bus. It was horrible. Only those of us who survived know it,” laments Sônia.
