The new coronavirus pandemic in Brazil, if it maintains the current accelerated rate, could continue until after Christmas, according to the projection by the University of Singapore’s Data Innovation Laboratory.

The study suggests that the Covid-19 outbreak is expected to end on December 29 in Brazil. Other countries have also obtained forecasts (in the United States, the current epicenter of the pandemic, should end on October 18).

The researchers used data from people infected, susceptible, and recovered from Covid-19 to project the behavior of the disease in different countries. The initial screening for Brazil ended on July 8, but was postponed until October 29 and currently December 29.

For the world, the forecast is that the last case will be recorded on New Year’s Eve, December 31, but the margin of error may indicate the permanence of the pandemic in 2021.

Last Friday (8), the Ministry of Health released 145,328 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Brazil, with 9,897 deaths.
