A 77-year-old man was thrown from a wheelchair and died after being hit by a pickup truck in Uberlândia,
in Minas Gerais.
The accident happened last Monday (14). In shock, the driver of the vehicle said it was not possible to avoid the crash.
According to witnesses, the accident site has reduced visibility, both for pedestrians and drivers, due to a short wall. Also, there is no pedestrian lane on the stretch.
The woman said she was coming out of the tunnel when she was surprised by the wheelchair on the road. With the impact of the crash, the victim “flies” out of the wheelchair by being thrown several meters.
The Fire Department was called and the wheelchair user was found with bleeding from the head and head trauma. “The cardiorespiratory arrest protocol was complied with, but the victim died,” the corporation said.
