Residents of Teresina (PI) held protests and blocked streets and avenues after more than 48 hours without power, according to TV Clube, an affiliate of TV Globo in Piauí.

A storm on New Year’s Eve downed trees, damaged electrical wiring and left some neighborhoods in the capital Piauí in darkness.

Tonight, residents of neighborhoods such as Água Mineral, Buenos Aires and Vila Cristalina, in the north, set fire to tires in protest and complained about Equatorial Piauí, an electricity distribution company that operates in the state.

“Since 31 … I have activated [a Equatorial] when a plate fell [na rede elétrica]. Twenty-four hours later, a company car arrived, they looked, but couldn’t get it out. And in that we run out of energy. Whatever has had ice cream, material from the pizzeria itself, is gone, “complained a shopkeeper in an interview with TV Clube.

On social media, Ecuatorial Piauí apologized to neighbors who complained about the lack of power. “Due to the complexity of these damages, there is still a record of occurrence in some neighborhoods. For these cases, we mobilize specialized teams, cutting and freeing access to affected roads and electrical networks ”, the company argued, even today.

The company gave a deadline of noon on Sunday to resolve problems and restore power.
