The moving average of deaths from covid-19 broke the pandemic record this Saturday 27 and reached 1,180, according to the most recent balance of the press vehicle consortium formed by Status, G1, O Globo, Extra, Folha me Twitter. The survey is based on data from all 27 state health departments.
The moving average tracks fluctuations in the past seven days and removes distortions between a high weekday number and a low weekend number. In the last 24 hours, 1,275 new deaths and 50,840 more cases of the disease were reported in the country, in total there are already 254,263 registered deaths and 10,508,634 infected in Brazil, according to the balance.
To prevent the collapse of the health system and slow the spread of the virus, governors and mayors are adopting stricter social isolation measures. In the state of São Paulo, a “containment touch” was adopted to assess and contain crowds between 11 pm and 5 am starting this Friday. In addition, six regions of the state, including Greater São Paulo, have gone from the yellow to orange phase.
At least 10 other states have also imposed restrictions on the movement of people, closures of business establishments and even lockdowns. According to the Bulletin of the Covid-19 Observatory of Fiocruz, 17 Brazilian capitals occupy ICU beds of at least 80%.
Also according to the balance of the press vehicle consortium, 6,535,363 people have already received the first dose of the vaccine in the country, of which 1,918,062 also took the second. In the last 24 hours, 145,654 doses were applied.

The balance of deaths and cases is the result of an alliance between the six media that began to work, since June 8, in a collaborative way to collect the necessary information in the 26 states and the Federal District. The unprecedented initiative is a response to the Bolsonaro government’s decision to restrict access to data on the pandemic, but it was maintained after government records continued to be released.
This Saturday, the Ministry of Health reported that in the last 24 hours, 61,602 new cases and 1,386 more deaths from covid-19 have been reported. In total, according to the folder, there are 10,517,232 infected people and 254,221 deaths. The figures are different from those compiled by the media consortium mainly due to the time of data collection. Also according to the federal agency, 9,386,440 people have already recovered from the disease in the country.
