Race against the collapse of the health system.

The Amazon is running to avoid a health collapse with the pandemic. The government admits that almost 100% of the ICU patient beds in Covid-19 are occupied.

Refrigerated containers were installed in hospital units in Manaus to contain bodies, due to the increase in deaths. The measure was taken on the impact of a video that shows suspected bodies of Covid-19 placed next to patients admitted to the João Lúcio Hospital.

Due to the increase in deaths, the Government of Amazonas and the Manaus City Council had to take extreme measures to satisfy the high demand for deaths. On Monday (20), refrigerated containers were installed in the Nossa Senhora Aparecida cemetery to accommodate the high demand for coffins sent from public hospitals in the capital, many of them victims of the new coronavirus.

Last Friday (17), dozens of graves had been opened in the cemetery to meet the increased demand. Four days later, the City Council opened mass graves, called by the trenches organ, to bury the victims of the new coronavirus in the Nossa Senhora Aparecida public cemetery.
