PSDB mayors will govern the largest number of inhabitants taking into account the result of the two rounds of the municipal election, reveals an analysis based on TSE data. 34 million people live in the municipalities where the party won the municipal elections.
The toucans maintained their leadership with the re-election of Bruno Covas in São Paulo, the most populous municipality in the country, with 12.3 million inhabitants.
They are followed by MDB, DEM, PSD, PP and PDT, all with more than 10 million inhabitants in the municipalities under command.
Tucanos registers the greatest loss
Despite remaining at the top of the list, the PSDB was the one that lost the most inhabitants governed since 2016. In total, 14.3 million people are no longer governed by the party.
Next is the PSB, with a negative balance of 7.4 million inhabitants.
DEM was the one that gained the most, with a surplus of 13.5 million inhabitants. The party was favored by the victory of Eduardo Paes in Rio de Janeiro, the second most populated city in the country, with 6.7 million inhabitants. The party is followed by PSD, with 9.5 million, and PP, with 6.9 million.
