The Civil Police arrested Tiago Tadeu Faria, known as Gianecchini, on Friday the 11th, on suspicion of being linked to attacks on banks in the interior of São Paulo. Faria became known at the national level when he invaded the São Paulo carnival in 2012 and tore up the cards containing the notes of the associations. Police say he was wanted for bank robbery.
The man was detained in the north of the capital by the team of the V Bank Robbery Investigation Board, of the State Criminal Investigations Department (Deic). According to the investigators, he participated in the attacks against the branches of the Bank of Brazil of Ourinhos and Botucatu. In the latter case, on July 30, a band of about 40 members promoted a dawn of terror in the city.
The police say that Faria is still suspected of explosions in the banks of Rio Grande do Norte, in 2017, and in Iacanga, in the interior of São Paulo, in 2016. “The V Heritage team obtained information about the Faria’s displacements. The police managed to intercept him on Avenida do Guacá. There was no reaction, ”Deic said in a note.
In August, another suspect in the Botucatu case was arrested in Sapopemba, on the east side of the capital. The attack on agencies in the interior city ended with a suspect killed and two military policemen injured. Other members of the gang are still under investigation. The report was unable to identify the official responsible for Faria’s defense on Friday night.
