After Sony confirmed that video leaks with spoilers for The Last of Us Part II were not caused by former employees, the hackers are rumored to have accessed the content.
On Twitter, journalist Jason Schreier (ex-Kotaku Bloomberg) says he spoke to two sources aware of the leaks and Naugthy Dog employees, suggesting a possible security breach on the servers.
OK: After talking to two people with direct knowledge of how TLOU2 was leaked and to some Naughty Dog employees, I have a good idea of what happened. Short version: Hackers found a security vulnerability in a patch for an older ND game and used it to gain access to ND servers.

In short: hackers found a vulnerability security on a patch from the old game Naughty Dog and used it to gain access to the servers. “
In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, Sony said it was conducting an investigation into the leak, but declined to disclose further details on the matter. Debugging information that only developers have access to, which initially led to rumors that the leak was caused by a former employee. According to the company, the “primary perpetrators” of the incident have no ties to Naughty Dog or Sony.
