If you were waiting for the launch of the iPhone 12 to buy an older model for a cheaper price, you can take the horse out of the rain. Apple surprisingly raised the prices of old models after updating its official store in Brazil on Tuesday (13).
Smartphones like the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR, released last year, seemed more expensive after the store reopened than until the brand’s e-commerce fell. This action from Apple is staggering, as older models are usually cheaper after launch, that’s what happened in the United States.
Check out the prices below before and after the iPhone 12 announcement:
iPhone 11:
64 GB: R $ 4,999 (before) and R $ 5,699 (after)
128 GB: R $ 5,299 (before) and R $ 6,199 (after)
256 GB: R $ 5,799 (before) and R $ 7,199 (after)
iPhone XR:
64 GB: R $ 4,299 (before) and R $ 4,999 (after)
128 GB: R $ 4,599 (before) and R $ 5,299 (after)
Outside of Brazil, the prices of both mobile phones fell. At the online event, Apple announced that both the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 will continue to be sold with a $ 100 cut from initial prices.
The only cell phone that did not have a price increase in Brazil was the iPhone SE, which continues to sell at the values of its launch at the beginning of this year, nor did it have a reduced price, therefore.
The iPhones 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max were removed from Apple’s sales line, repeating what the brand did last year by cutting the XS and XS Max.
Wanted by Inclination To explain the price increase of old smartphones, Apple Brazil simply said that it was a “readjustment of values” without explaining the reasons.
It is very likely that prices have been affected by the recent rise in the dollar in the country, which went from around R $ 4 last year and reached a pinch of R $ 6 this year, and is currently close to R $ 5.50 in daily variations.
The new iPhones have not yet had the price revealed by Apple, but with the increase in price of the old models it is likely that they will not arrive cheaply in the country and break historical records for company values.
