Insured persons of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) what do you need to do life test to be aware. This is because the requirement suspension period ends on the day November 30.

Initially scheduled until October 31, the suspension was extended until the end of this month, according to a measure published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on October 15. Thus, the INSS will not be able to interrupt the payment of benefits until this date due to lack of proof of life.

The suspension occurred due to the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, since March there have been no lockdowns, suspension and termination of the retirement and pension of the insured that have not been tested for life.

This is because the Social Security agencies were closed until September, making it impossible to attend. Even after the resumption of face-to-face activities, many beneficiaries found it difficult to carry out the support procedure, which justified the extension of the deadline for the suspension of the requirement.

In a note, the Institute explained that the aforementioned procedures last until October, so that payments made up to this month remain without the possibility of suspension due to the absence of the procedure.

Also according to the INSS, there may be further extensions of the suspension period of the life test while the state of emergency lasts in the pandemic. Even so, the municipality recommends scheduling the life test so that the insured does not lose the benefit from December.

In this case, retirees and pensioners who can carry out the procedure in advance, even without the risk of payment blocking, can schedule the proof of life through the My INSS application.

On the proof of life

The proof of life, also called “proof of life” or “password renewal”, is a mandatory procedure, provided for by law, which aims to guarantee that the insured is alive. The exam, which must be done once a year, is one way to prevent fraud and improper benefit payments.

All retirees, pensioners and beneficiaries of Social Security who receive any benefit through a checking account, savings account or magnetic card must take the life test.

If the insured does not submit to the annual procedure, payments are temporarily suspended. Within a period of up to six months, the beneficiary may still go through the life test to receive it again. However, without testing, the benefit will be permanently locked after this period.

Recently, the INSS has made available a new modality of the procedure performed digitally. The call virtual life test It consists of sending a selfie through the Meu INSS application so that the Institute can perform the facial biometric analysis, ensuring the continuity of the payment of benefits.
