The Northwest-Misiones macro-region is all in the red classification, of the RS government’s controlled distance system. The state executive denied the requests made by mayors and regional associations and, thus, the regions of Ijuí, Santo Ângelo, Cruz Alta and Santa Rosa will remain in the red flag. The number of deaths, the new hospitalizations for Covid-19, but mainly the overcrowding of ICU beds, were the arguments used by the State to maintain the red classification for the four regions.
In the case of Ijuí and Santo Ângelo, the rules for the operation of companies and the movement of people will have few changes. This is because the two regions have joined the co-management system and are adopting intermediate protocols (less restrictive than those of the red flag). The Santa Rosa region submitted a request and is awaiting government analysis.
