Until then, the hottest day in 2020 in Rio was September 27, when the temperature reached 40.2ºC. The historical record of the city was registered on December 26, 2012, with 43.2ºC.

The historical maximum in Belo Horizonte is 37.4ºC, registered on October 22, 2015, according to Inmet measurements. In 2020, the highest temperature recorded was 36.5 ° C at the Santo Agostinho neighborhood meteorological station.

A cold front advancing over the south of the country should lower the temperature in some capitals in the south and southeast over the weekend. The heat should decrease in Curitiba, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro already on Saturday (3), with a forecast of many clouds and a mild temperature.

  • Curitiba: maximum of 18ºC on Saturday (3) and 17ºC on Sunday (4);
  • Saint Paul: maximum of 25ºC on Saturday (3) and 21ºC on Sunday (4);
  • Rio de Janeiro: maximum of 29ºC on Saturday (3) and 22ºC on Sunday (4).

In Belo Horizonte, the temperature is expected to rise further on Saturday, reaching 38ºC and dropping to 34ºC on Sunday.

Air humidity remains at levels well below those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), varying between 20 and 9% in much of the country, especially in the Midwest region.
