The Espírito Santo government announced the authorization to resume face-to-face classes for students of Primary Education I and II and Baccalaureate, as of October 5. The determination applies to private institutions located in cities classified as low risk for the new coronavirus. On the same day, they will also be able to return to Early Childhood Education activities. The return of Primary and Secondary Education of state and municipal schools will return from the 13th.
The information was disclosed on the afternoon of Friday (25), by Governor Renato Casagrande, during a press conference. Regarding Early Childhood Education, the state government ended this Friday and will publish in the Official Gazette next Tuesday (29) the ordinance with the protocol for the return of activities at this level. Face-to-face activities for early childhood education, both from private and municipal schools, can be resumed from day 5, but only for individual children or small groups.
The return of Baccalaureate in the state network and Primary Education I and II in the municipal network will take place from October 13, also following the same protocols. Regarding Primary Schools I and II of the State, the resumption of face-to-face classes will occur in the coming weeks, respecting the 15-day interval between the return of each stage. Thus, two weeks after returning from secondary school, Primary School II will resume and, 15 days later, Primary School I.
Hybrid teaching model
However, the effective return of face-to-face classes will depend on the decision of each private school and each low-risk municipality. If schools choose to resume face-to-face activities, schools must offer students the option to remain in distance education. Therefore, parents who do not feel safe sending their children to school can keep them at home.
The return of classes, in the case of primary and secondary, must also obey the protocol established by the State government, published in the Official Gazette of August 8. In this way, a hybrid model will be adopted for the return of school activities, partly in person and partly at a distance.
This means that there will be rotation among students: in a week, part of the students will return to the classroom and the other part will remain in remote education. In the other week, the two parties take turns. According to the state government, the EscoLAR Program will continue to complement the face-to-face classes and will fill the time of the week when there will be no face-to-face classes, with distance classes.
