Since leaving the government on April 24, the former Minister of Justice, Sérgio Moro, has been wanted by at least two parties: Pode and PSL. Although seen as a possible presidential candidate in 2022, former judge Lava Jato has avoided the problem.
Analysts and politicians estimate that Moro can break the polarization between Bolsonarism and the left that dominated the last presidential elections, since it must be attacked by both parties.
Responsible for condemning former President of the Republic Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the Guarujá triplex case, Moro accused Bolsonaro of politically interfering in the change of command of the Federal Police (PF).
He has already testified in this process, which is carried out in the Office of the Attorney General (PGR) and in which it is also determined whether the former magistrate committed the crime of defamatory complaint; if this hypothesis is confirmed, political plans can be achieved.
Defenders of the former minister recall that, in his favor, he has the support of parliamentarians, such as members of the Muda Senado bank, defender of the crime package and the prison after a second instance sentence.
In addition, he has the sympathy of some movements that called for the removal of former President Dilma Rousseff, such as Vem Pra Rua.
For the parties that sought him out, Moro said that any political movement at this time would be used against him by the Bolsonaristas, who already see him as a potential adversary in 2022.
“He does not want to talk about it (2022), because it would be to provide ammunition to the enemy. At this moment of civic consciousness we are not thinking about an election. But after this stage ends, if there is interest in it, the party will be with the open arms, “he said. Senator Alvaro Dias (Pode-PR).
“His connection is closer to Pode, but the PSL has the plug in the tail. Sérgio Moro divides this Bolsonarista public that is anti-left and fights against corruption,” said Senator Major Olimpio (PSL-SP), party leader. in the Senate and former ally of Bolsonaro.
Through his advice on the parties’ interest in affiliating him, Moro said he would not comment.
Institute
The creation of the Rosângela Moro Institute caught the attention of the political world, a month before the former judge left the government. The ex-judge’s wife describes the institution as a “non-profit organization, with the aim of promoting projects with social impact.”
The organization has been carrying out actions such as donating protection equipment against covid-19, without the participation of Moro.
In the institute’s profile on Instagram, there is a markup on another page, which supports the former minister’s candidacy. The post, from a week ago, contains a photo of Moro and the caption “Thank you, # Until2022”.
The report contacted the entity, but received no response. The information is from the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo
