Protagonist of the unfortunate episode of the classic between PSG and Olympique de Marseille last Sunday, when Neymar was accused of racism, defender Álvaro González is a repeat offender in the tough discussions on the pitch. The 30-year-old Spaniard has already had disagreements with two former Brazilian teammates in Barcelona: Messi and Piqué.

On January 13, 2016, when he was defending Espanyol, González made fun of Messi’s stature after losing the jersey with the number 10: “You are very short,” he said. The Barça star responded by saying “you’re very bad.” Neymar was on the bench at the time and Barcelona won 2-0.

– I don’t remember exactly how it was, but he told me “I’m better than you”, and I, well, I try to do my best so that I don’t outgrow some movements. I try to do the best in my characteristics and possibilities. But it cannot be denied (that Messi is better) – said the defender after the incident.
Two seasons later, already with the Villarreal shirt on, it was González’s turn to argue ugly with Piqué in a game against Barcelona on April 2, 2019. The current Olympique player was sent off after a tough tackle in Suárez, he finished off with the rival defender, who was on the bench, and had to be stopped on the way out to the locker room. The teams tied 4-4.
