According to the director of Civil Defense Risk Management, Felipe Gelain, the alerts were issued from noon on Wednesday. After 6 pm, the announcements were more “incisive.”
“The Lontras radar would help more to see, more or less, the amount of rain, but we already had that amount. Even with the Lontras radar or without the Lontras radar, there was no way to predict that this accumulated rain would happen in no time, ”he said.
