This Saturday, March 3, 2021, Brazil lost one of its most emblematic voices. The singer Agnaldo Timóteo died at the age of 84, being one of the 300 thousand victims of Covid-19 in the country.
Agnaldo stood out for his voice, which has carried romantic songs since the 1960s, and also held political positions, being elected federal deputy and councilor in both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Besides music, a great passion for Agnaldo was Botafogo. The singer was even one of those in charge of organizing the funeral of Mané Garrincha, in 1983, when the greatest ace in the history of Botafogo died.

Agnaldo lived a great sporting happiness just when he began his successful career, in the 60s, but his fanatic fans did not leave the club in its darkest phases. In this 2021 that consecrated the Blue and White relegation to Serie B, Agnaldo, participating in the SBT program “Os Donos da Bola”, even made an appeal to the cast of the 2020 season.
“We are outraged, it is the Botafogo team, Paulo Cezar, Jairzinho, Fischer, Nilton Santos, it is Garrincha. For the love of God, sure, please, ”he said.
It is even possible to imagine that, if we had not experienced a pandemic that left the stadiums of all Brazil empty, Agnaldo could have lost control – a short fuse that was – and invade the grass during one of the several defeats suffered by his team. The unusual situation occurred in 1984, in Botafogo’s 1-0 defeat against Mato Grosso’s Operário. Alvinegro lost by 1 to 0 and had the opportunity to tie through a penalty. And if there was one thing Agnaldo never wanted to do, in his 84 years, it was damage the team of his heart.
