The decision of the state government keep shopping malls closed Grande Vitória was not well regarded by businessmen in the sector. The decision was announced on Friday night (8) by Governor Renato Casagrande, during a press conference. On the occasion, the Governor also announced that street trade could reopen, gradually and alternatively, from Monday (11).
The state coordinator of the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers (Abrasce) and the general director of Shopping Vitória, Raphael Brotto, says that he did not understand the criteria used by the state government to keep shopping centers closed and free up the shopping operation in the Street.
“In shopping malls, it is much easier, in relation to shopping on the street, to control the number of people entering, to demand the use of the mask, to mark the lines and to adopt other procedures that avoid crowds. That is why that we do not understand this criterion, but we always respect the decisions of the government, which is who has control over the numbers and surveys of the pandemic in the state, “he said.
Brotto says that the maintenance of the closure of shopping centers affects almost 2,000 commercial establishments and around 30,000 direct or indirect jobs in Gran Vitória. “On the one hand, this decision benefits a commerce sector, but continues to damage the branch of the shopping centers. We have been closed since March 19 and this impact is very significant,” he said.
The state coordinator of Abrasce also points out that the instructions of the shopping centers in the metropolitan region have already presented to the State Government a protocol for the gradual reopening of these shopping centers. He also mentioned that 81 shopping centers have already been reopened throughout Brazil and that none of them had to be closed again.
“This protocol that we present to the government is based on safety and prevention, so that all employees and customers are safe when they return to establishments. Shopping centers that have already reopened in Brazil strictly comply with all protocols and people who serve them are aware of their responsibilities, “he stressed.
