After the death of an employee by burial This Friday (12/18) at the company’s facilities, the Brumadinho city council issued a decree suspending the operation and location of Vale and its subcontracted companies in the city. The measure will be valid for seven days or until accident is duly clarified by the mining company and by the authorities.

The decree also establishes that the determination will be carried out until the company guarantees security company workers in the workplace. According to the city council, the cassar do alvar does not interfere in the works of the Paraopeba river pipeline or in the search operations of the Fire Department for the 11 victims who disappeared due to the dam failure.

The municipality also reported that the companies in charge of operating the water filtration system withdrew from the Iron and coal stream and in the pumping station installed at the confluence of the Alberto Torres road and by cleaning the water tanks in the community of Tejuco, they will be able to operate normally.

Death occurred after the collapse of the slope

The worker died after a Slope collapse at the Crrego do Feijo mine, near the site of the B1 dam rupture, which killed 259 people and left 11 others missing on January 25 of last year. He was employed by a contractor and was driving a backhoe at the time of the accident. The company did not reveal the name of the operator. The causes of death will be investigated by the Civil Police.

The burial took place in a materials disposal area and distant from the place where the Fire Department maintains the search for remains not yet found in the 2019 disaster.

In a note, Vale affirms that it feels a deep solidarity with the company’s facilities and supports the accident investigation: “Immediately after the accident, Vale stopped its activities in Crrego do Feijo. The company continues to support the authorities in the investigation of the causes and maintaining a permanent dialogue with the competent public bodies “.
