The daily moving average of deaths per COVID-19 in Brazil, this Wednesday the 17th, for the first time above 2,000, according to data collected by the consortium of press vehicles. The average has been hitting consecutive records for 19 days.

During the past week, 14,219 people died from the disease, the highest number in a period like this since the start of the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours, the country registered 2,736 new deaths from the disease, according to data from the consortium formed by State, G1, O Globo, Extra, Folha and UOL meeting in the state health secretariats. The number of victims this Wednesday is the second highest in the entire pandemic, 2,798 victims this Tuesday, 16. The eleven largest daily death marks occurred in March. In total, Brazil today reached 285,136 deaths from the new coronavirus.

São Paulo once again registered a high number of deaths, with 617 victims. The number was 314 in Minas Gerais, 261 in Paraná, 213 in Rio Grande do Sul, states with the highest absolute number of deaths.

According to a bulletin released this Tuesday by Fiocruz, twenty-four Brazilian states and the Federal District have an ICU bed occupancy rate for the care of patients with covid-19 above 80%, and in 15 units of the federation the rate is higher than 90%.

The document also indicates that, in relation to the capitals, 25 of the 27 have an ICU occupancy rate above 80%, and in 19 of them the rate is above 90%.

The balance of the consortium also shows that 90,830 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 11,700,431 confirmed diagnoses in the country. The mark of 90 thousand cases in one day is the largest in the entire pandemic in the country. to Ministry of Health, Brazil has 10,287,057 recovered covid-19 patients and 1,122,006 are still under medical supervision.
