People with tight meridians are forced to choose the lesser evil. But beware! It must really be the lesser evil, and not faces of the same evil. “I didn’t understand, Reinaldo, it’s too abstract!” Well, no! So let’s give the conversation materiality, smoke and fire. Ricardo Salles, Minister of the Environment, certainly in coordination with the President of the Republic, kicked the butt and gave the honor of General Luiz Eduardo Ramos, head of the Government Secretariat and political coordinator of the Planalto Palace.
Ramos, it is worth remembering, was the Military Commander of the Southeast when he was elevated to the position of … political articulator. In yet another piece of evidence that, in effect, it is the voice and arm of Bolsonaro in the Amazon, in the Pantanal and where there is more burned forest and ridged land, Salles called the former military commander of the Southeast “María Fofoca.”
The so-called “ideological wing” of the government, starting with Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PSL-SP), joined Salles. Other parliamentarians of the Bolsonarista extreme right did the same. However, believing that there is an important contradiction between Ramos and Salles – or, more broadly, between the Military Party and the extreme right – is as false as a R $ 89 thousand bill. So much so that “María Fofoca” and the arsonist have already understood each other. Salles wrote this Sunday on the networks:
“I spoke to Minister Ramos, I apologized for the excess and put an end to it. We are together in government, for President Bolsonaro and Brazil. Good Sunday everyone.”
All that was left to say was that he forgives the victim of the crime. Ramos accepted the excuses and kept the job. And Salles comes out a little stronger than he was, because now he knows that he can step on the butt of a general, who, after all, is out of place. Those who sided with Ramos inadvertently ended up collaborating to strengthen Salles, who gained an additional swath of land (deforested and burned).
As a state institution, this is one more stain on the reputation of the Armed Forces, only surpassed by the contusion to which General Eduardo Pazuello was subjected in the case of the Butantan vaccine. These humiliations, however, only exist because the Armed Forces – active or reserve – are out of place. The Military Party, converted into the Boquinha Party, disputes spaces of power. And, of course, for all intents and purposes, it only acts in defense of the homeland.
Ramos e Salles, Armed Forces and reactionary tricks … Maximum partiality, there is no contradiction there. They are just different and combined evils. I hope that politics still return some to barracks and others to the catacombs of history.
