The government of São Paulo announced today that ten of the 17 regions of the state have advanced their phase in the new reclassification of the São Paulo Plan, which coordinates the relaxation of restrictive measures to control the covid-19 pandemic. Among the regions that have advanced due to the improvement in the rates that control the plan, such as the number of new hospitalizations and bed occupancy, is Greater São Paulo, which includes the capital, going from orange to yellow.

Thus, bars can operate until 8 p.m. and restaurants until 10 p.m., with an occupancy limit of 40% of the establishments. In orange, bars were prohibited from operating with face-to-face service and restaurants had to close until 8 at night. The new reclassification will begin on Monday (8) throughout the state of São Paulo.

Patrícia Ellen, Secretary of Economic Development of São Paulo, said that the maximum hours of operation in the yellow phase will be 12 hours.

“It is possible to extend the operation for 12 hours, from 6 am to 10 pm. After 10 pm only essential services. Some environments are more risky, so the sale of alcoholic beverages is allowed only until 8 pm. for seated customers, ”Patricia said during a São Paulo government press conference on the pandemic at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, in São Paulo.

In addition to Greater São Paulo, Araçatuba, Baixada Santista, Campinas, Presidente Prudente and Registro advanced from the orange phase to the yellow phase. Barretos, Marília, Ribeirão Preto and Taubaté went from red to orange. Only Araraquara stepped back and went from orange to red, more restrictive of the plan.

The last update of the São Paulo Plan was made a week ago, on January 29, but since then the government of São Paulo had already modified the additional restrictive measures announced to try to control, mainly, nightlife in the state, considered as the main. cause of the worsening of the pandemic.

The day before yesterday, Doria’s management suspended the closure of non-essential activities on weekends, which in practice only lasted last weekend. The adoption of the red phase rules was also suspended in all regions from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. during the week.
