BRASILIA – The Board of the Chamber of Deputies will have a meeting this Tuesday morning to discuss the possibility of opening a process to revoke the mandate of Congresswoman Flordelis (PSD-RJ), accused of having her husband, Pastor Anderson Carmo . The meeting was scheduled by the president of the Chamber, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ).
In the Chamber, Flordelis is the object of a representation of the deputy Lé Motta (PSL-RJ), presented before the Bureau. The deputies who make up the body also received information from Anderson do Carmo’s lawyer, who requested the immediate dismissal of the parliamentarian. These two representations, however, face regimental obstacles in their ability to advance rapidly.

For submission to the Ethics Council, there are deadlines and prior analysis by Internal Affairs and the Bureau itself. Only a political party can send a representation directly to the Ethics Council. And so far, no title has done that. For a parliamentarian to be charged, the collegiate must approve an opinion on the loss of mandate and, subsequently, the plenary session of the Chamber must support the decision.

According to the mayor of the Chamber, Paulo Bengtson (PTB-PA), the idea of the meeting is to discuss the regulatory possibilities in a “serious” case that needs speed.
– I think the case should go directly to the Ethics Council. Tomorrow we may have a decision about it – says Bengtson.
Due to the pandemic, the activities of the council are paralyzed, as well as the work of the other members of the council. No commission has been installed since the beginning of the year. To get the Ethics Council back to work, Bengtson tabled a draft resolution. The intention is that parliamentarians support remote meetings.
