Nasser had asked to reject the charges of the three members of the Federal Public Ministry (MPC) alleging that “the hearing on December 6, 2019 did not give him enough time to address all the points he wanted.” The businessman also criticized the federal prosecutor’s office “for not having appointed an independent and neutral judicial expert.”

The PSG president also considered that “the evidence presented spontaneously by the defense would not have been considered.” Swiss justice, for its part, considered that the parties “had the opportunity to express themselves on the facts and the accusations made.”

The case involving Al Khelaifi concerns the granting of “media rights for different editions of the World Cup and the Confederations Cup.” The Catari leader reached a friendly agreement with FIFA, which later withdrew the corruption complaint against him.

Former FIFA number 2 Jérôme Valcke was charged in the same case with “passive corruption, multiple unfair management and forgery of documents”.

Al Khelaifi and a third person, active in the field of sports law, but whose name has not been revealed by Swiss justice, are accused of “instigating the qualified unfair management committed” by Valcke, who served as secretary general of FIFA. This third person is also accused of “active corruption”.

According to the deputy, Valcke used his influence between 2013 and 2015 to guide “the processes of granting media rights to Italy and Greece in different World Cups and FIFA Confederations Cups in the period from 2018 to 2030 ”
