The man suspected of sending an explosive inside a bouquet of flowers to a woman in Francisco Morato, in Greater São Paulo, was arrested on Tuesday (2).
In a note sent to Twitter, the state SSP (Ministry of Public Security) confirmed that during the Civil Police investigation a suspect was identified and the Justice accepted the request for temporary detention.
According to Globo, the suspect was an ex-boyfriend of Edileuza Ramalho, 49, who was transferred to Francisco Morato’s Santa Casa de Misericordia on January 5 after opening the package bomb.
Edileuza remained hospitalized for 10 days after the blast, according to the station.
At that time, the victim’s son, Jhonatan Cardoso dos Santos, 27, had already suggested that an ex-boyfriend could have been responsible for the attack. He would have even threatened her on several occasions.
According to the SSP, the case was registered as an attempted homicide by the Francisco Morato Police Station, which is still investigating the events.
