Today’s action originated in the Armadeira operation, in October last year, which dismantled a scheme to collect bribes in the field of federal agricultural inspections in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The MPF stressed that the continuation of the investigations since October was possible thanks to the award-winning collaboration signed with one of the auditors of the Internal Revenue Service investigated in the first phase, which revealed details of the operation of the scheme for collecting bribes in the Service of Internal Taxes in the VII Fiscal Region. including federal officials, accountants, and businessmen.
The MPF had the support of the Internal Revenue Service in monitoring the investigations. The 46 search and seizure orders were carried out in companies and homes of those involved in the scheme, federal auditors, businessmen and accountants.
Among the objectives of the Armadeira 2 operation are, in addition to supermarkets, cigarette and beverage companies that, according to the MPF, benefited from the scheme because they were subject to inspection by the Federal Revenue Service for the suspicion of buying tickets cold to obtain illicit tax credits. , with the consequent reduction in the payment of taxes.
Guanabara confirmed compliance with the arrest warrants and stressed that he remains at the disposal of the authorities to clarify the facts.
