Rogério Ceni said this Monday, on the SporTV program “Bem, Friends!” That he would keep Fernando Diniz as São Paulo coach in 2021, if he were one of the candidates for the club’s presidency. Tricolor will have elections in the first half of December.
– In my opinion, I would continue working with Fernando Diniz next year. You can see the evolution he has seen in the last two games. It is a team that plays with a lot of ball possession, it comes out playing. I believe that only time will make a coach successful. If I were one of the candidates, I would stick with Diniz’s job for the next year, said Ceni, the Fortaleza coach.
– (I would) because the work is good and only time can get the most out of the coach. The proof of all this is us here. Over time, we managed to play better soccer.

Rogério Ceni also spoke about the reunion with São Paulo, on Wednesday, at 7.15pm, in Castelão, for the first match of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. He lost the three games he played as a coach against the former club.
– Today I am Fortaleza. I am very fond of São Paulo, nobody will take it away from me, but I want to win. The favoritism is from São Paulo. The difference in investment and structure is very large. First, the duel is between São Paulo and Fortaleza. Coincidentally, I am the coach of Fortaleza. Second, it is natural that São Paulo beat Fortaleza with me as coach. They are clubs with different moments and different stories.
– The favoritism is from São Paulo. If he played for São Paulo, I would be sure that the favoritism belongs to São Paulo. As a coach in Fortaleza, I am aware.
Rogério Ceni headed São Paulo at the beginning of the 2017 season, but was dismissed in early July by the decision of President Carlos Augusto de Barros e Silva, Leco, who will resign at the end of 2020.
– The president does not enter the field. The players entering. They are great players. And a great coach. In this case, there is no rivalry, nothing about it.
Rogério Ceni talks about São Paulo, the evolution of the structure of Fortaleza and declares his love for the northeastern club: “My third home”
