This Tuesday, November 3, National Institute of Social Security (INSS) starts with the pilot project providing medical expertise using telemedicine. According to the Government, the test is only valid for the granting of sickness benefit.
According to information from the Special Secretariat for Social Security and Labor, “at this time, the process will be for a restricted group of people, the insured of companies that have a collaboration agreement with the INSS and that have formalized the term of adherence to the experience pilot. “
The Federal Government sent to the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), in early November, a proposal to test the performance of the INSS forensics with the use of telemedicine. The agency had demanded the development of a remote appraisal plan to reduce the queue to award benefits.
“We emphasize that this is not the beginning of the service to carry out medical expert opinions with the use of telemedicine, but only a pilot experience”, revealed the secretary.
Operation
The operating proposal is that an occupational doctor, to be hired by the company, accompany the employee through virtual medical expertise. It is worth noting that the employee must agree to the procedure.
During the service, the company physician must perform all tests requested by the federal medical examiner and answer questions. According to the rules, you will not be able to intervene in questions that are asked directly to the employee.
Therefore, the INSS expert can award sickness benefits, deny or ask the employee to go to an agency, if it is not clear whether or not there is a right to the benefit.
In which company are you working on the project?
According to the INSS, approximately 300 companies are associated with the INSS. The employee should look to the company’s HR to find out if they are on the project.
Is the online experience worth it?
According to the document sent to the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), the experience is only for the granting of sickness benefits, now called temporary disability benefits.
Therefore, the pilot project will not be valid for the extension of sickness benefit, conversion of sickness benefit into disability retirement, accident benefit and professional rehabilitation.
Once the pilot is finished, the experience will be evaluated. “Subsequently, a workshop will be held in which SPREV, INSS and other organizations (TCU, CGU, MPF, DPU) will participate, to evaluate the results and issue recommendations on whether or not to continue medical expertise with the use of telemedicine, in the format proposed in the protocol ”, informed the secretary.
The pilot project continues until December 31, 2020.
