Star Wars Darth Vader, David Prowse, dies at 85

Today, at the age of 85, actor and bodybuilder David Prowse died, who played the character of Darth Vader in the first Star Wars trilogy. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Prowse’s agent, Thomas Bowington, spoke to the BBC about the actor’s death, calling it “a real and deeply painful loss for us and millions of fans around the world.” “May the force be with him, always,” he said.

On the big screen, he also did “Vampire Circus”, “Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell” and “Clockwork Orange”. He played Green Cross Code Man, a superhero created in the 1970s, during a road safety campaign in the UK.

Prowse spent decades participating in global Star Wars events, but is rumored to have left the series in 2010, when he fell out with director George Lucas.

Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the first Star Wars trilogy, paid tribute to Prowse with a post on Twitter.

“It is very sad to hear that David Prowse passed away. He was a kind man and much more than Darth Vader. Actor, husband, father, member of the Order of the British Empire, three-time British champion weightlifter and road safety icon with superhero Green Cross Code Man, “Hamill listed, recalling Prowse’s accomplishments.

“He loved his fans as much as he loved him,” he concluded.
