Confirming the good stage, Sport beat Bahia 2-1 tonight (4), for the 13th day of the Brazilian Championship. Jair Ventura’s team traveled to Pituaçu after ten days of preparation since their last victory, against Corinthians.
Hernane opened the penalty spot in the first half and Sport extended it in the complementary stage with Marcão. Saldanha still declined for Bahia. With the result, the Pernambuco team reached fifth place in the Brasileirão, with 20 points.
Bahia is still near the drop zone. Mano Menezes’ team is in 16th place, with 12 points, and only stayed there because Coritiba, Red Bull Bragantino and Botafogo tied their respective games.
On Wednesday (7), Sport will go to Rio de Janeiro to face Flamengo. On the same day, Bahia receives Vasco in Salvador.
Luan Polli: bravely resisted
The sport should be very grateful to its goalkeeper for being able to win. Despite suffering two goals, one of them canceled, Luan made great saves in the second half and managed to avoid Bahia’s reaction.
Juninho Capixaba: should
Juninho was one of the most unlucky players on the field. One of his few appearances in the match was a foul by Thiago Neves, which resulted in the penalty for Sport’s first goal.
I had a drill!
At 37 minutes into the first half, Patric was about to submit when he was brought down by Juninho Capixaba. Referee Rafael Traci signaled the penalty, and it was Hernane “Brocador” to open the scoring, stopping and sending the ball to the corner.
Marcão open heads
On a free kick almost at the corner kick, Thiago Neves sent the ball into the box and Marcão headed hard to the back of the net, increasing Sport’s lead in the second half.
Saldanha has a star
At 35 minutes, Mano Menezes took out Nino Paraíba and bet on another forward, the young Saldanha. On his first play, he headed the ball off a corner kick and dropped it for Bahia.
Goal canceled at the end
At 49 minutes into the second half, Bahia turned the net around with Gregore. However, the VAR warned the referees that there was a touch of Clayson’s hand in the dispute for the ball and the play was invalidated.
