São Paulo beat Binacional 5 to 1 tonight (20), for the sixth day of Group D of the Copa Libertadores, with goals from Vitor Bueno, Brenner, Pablo (twice) and Arboleda. Jean Deza scored the only away goal in the match in Morumbi.
With the result, the Tricolor of São Paulo is in third position in Group D, with seven points won, five less than LDU, vice leader. The team was already eliminated from the tournament, but took the place in the second phase of the Copa Sudamericana.
Binational finished as the key torch, with only three points. Interestingly, the Peruvians only beat São Paulo in the continental competition. Not even a win in the match played in Peru would be enough to give SPFC a place in the round of 16.
Who did it well: Pablo
Raising the injured Luciano, Pablo scored two goals against Binational tonight. The owner of jersey 9 scored a volley at the beginning of the complementary stage and scored a fundamental goal in the final minutes. The forward was the great name of the game that took place in Morumbi.
Who was wrong: Arango
Climbed up the left side of the field, the attacker had a hard time creating. He failed to reach the goal defended by Tiago Volpi in the duel and demanded little from Tchê Tchê, improvised by the right wing. With the poor performance, the athlete ended up being replaced by Gularte in the final stage.
Arboleda returns to SPFC after two months and leaves its mark
After two months without playing as a starter with São Paulo -the last game was on August 20, against Bahia-, Arboleda resumed the condition with the right foot, against Deportivo Binacional. The Ecuadorian entered the position of Diego Costa, saved and left his mark nine minutes into the final stage. He took advantage of Pablo’s header and put Fernández’s net. The defender did not know what it was to move the nets since January 29, when he scored against Ferroviária, for the Paulista Championship.
The performance of São Paulo
São Paulo was superior to Binacional throughout the match against Binacional. With more ball possession, Fernando Diniz’s team created options for full-backs and midfielders. Daniel Alves commanded the midfield with Vitor Bueno and Igor Gomes. The trio were responsible for creating the danger plays and supplying the pair that acted in the attack: Brenner and Pablo. With the ease of creating, the tricolor from São Paulo converted a good part of the opportunities and thrashed the Peruvian team in Morumbi.
The performance of Binacional
Closed in the defense field, the visiting team was unable to create. Jean Deza and Guachire were responsible for the team’s very few chances. Most of the plays were made on the sides of the field, but the team had no reference in the penalty area to conclude.
Game timeline
Vitor Bueno received from Bruno Alves in the offensive middle and hit a beautiful shot from the middle to open the scoring in the sixth minute of play. At 34, it was Brenner’s turn to make his mark. The center forward received from Vitor Bueno and put the opposite net. Even in the first half, at age 40, Jean Deza scored a great goal after being played on the left side of the attack.
After halftime, São Paulo was overwhelming. Pablo scored a volley goal five minutes into the second half. Four minutes later, it was Arboleda’s turn to swing the net. The defender took advantage of Pablo’s header and celebrated. Pablo received from Toró in the 39th minute of the second half to hit the net.
Daniel Alves is replaced by the Diniz option for the first time in 2020
Daniel Alves was replaced by Rodrigo Nestor at 20 minutes of the second half. It was the first time this season that the midfielder left the pitch at the option of Fernando Diniz. In the other 25 games, the veteran completed 24 of them. The only substitution, in the victory over Athletico-PR, on August 26, was due to the athlete’s injury. The change, therefore, was due to a need of the commander.
