The theme parks in the state of São Paulo can be operational again from next Wednesday (23). Activities must be outdoors and can only operate at 40% of the maximum audience capacity.
The announcement was made by Governor João Doria (PSDB), at a press conference at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes. Units may operate a maximum of eight hours a day following security protocols against the new coronavirus.
“The use of masks by professionals, suppliers and all the public who enter these parks will be mandatory,” reported Doria. To guarantee a maximum capacity of 40%, all tickets must be sold in advance. The inspection will be carried out by the respective City Council.
According to data from the São Paulo government, the reopening of theme parks recovers 26 thousand jobs, directly and indirectly, in the sector.
“It should also be noted here that this resumption is significant since we lost jobs in tourism in 2020. Tourism had been, in 2019, the largest generator of jobs in the state, with more than 50 thousand jobs according to Caged (Cadastro Geral de Employees and Unemployed) ”, said Vinícius Lummertz, Secretary of Tourism of São Paulo.
According to Lummertz, the reopening of theme parks in São Paulo provides conditions “for a safe resumption,” initially overheating local tourism.
“It replaces the trip abroad, it replaces the internal trip, until things are normalized in the world. There is an option of decentralizing tourism in the state of São Paulo, through this vocation of the state for organized theme parks”, added the secretary. .
According to Doria, São Paulo has the largest set of theme parks in Latin America, with more than 100 establishments.
