The governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), said today that he determined the inclusion of the quilombola population in the priority group of the vaccination program against covid-19 in the state.
The quilombolas, who were part of the first group to be vaccinated against covid-19 – along with health professionals and indigenous people – in the plan launched by the state government in December, are no longer on the list of those who will receive the vaccine as a priority.
In a post on social media, Doria said that “the Ministry of Health excluded the quilombolas” from the initial phase of the PNI (National Immunization Plan). Despite this, this population “will be part of the vaccination program [no estado] right now, “according to the governor.
OR Twitter contacted the State Department of Health to find out if the quilombola vaccination will begin immediately or if there are scheduled dates for this immunization. By phone, the ministry’s press office said only that the announcement made by the governor was worth it and that, so far, it has no further information.
The report also requested the Ministry of Health and is awaiting a position.
The national and São Paulo vaccination plans have some differences. In the national program, the first group to receive the vaccine are health professionals, people over 75 years of age, people aged 60 and over living in long-term and indigenous institutions. The quilombolas are not included in the priority groups.
Yesterday, Minister Ricardo Lewandowski, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), demanded that the federal government present an update of the national immunization plan with the vaccination schedule for risk groups now that immunizers are authorized for emergency use in Brazil .
