Bahia’s attack did not take long to resolve and, with two goals from Fessin and one from Gilberto, he helped the Tricolor beat Melgar 4-0 on Thursday night, for the second phase of the Copa Sudamericana. Gregore also scored one of the team’s goals, which built a lead in the first half, controlled the game in the second and now faces Unión Santa Fe in the round of 16 of the competition.

With tonight’s goal, Gilberto reached four in the Copa Sudamericana and leads the competition’s artillery alongside the Emelec Barceló striker, who has already been eliminated. In the post-match interview, the tricolor striker celebrated another ball at the net, but it marked the team’s good collective performance.
– It is important to always be scoring because I am a center forward, I live on goals. But we must focus on the group, because today’s performance has been good, beautiful, the team has behaved well, they have managed to take the disadvantage of Melgar’s team. So we have to focus on that – said Gilberto.

Gilberto praised the performance of the team which, for him, knew how to put intensity at the beginning of the match, when he scored all the goals, and control the ball in the final stage.
– Very happy. The team behaved very well. We did what the coach asked us to do. We put intensity at the beginning of the game, we got the result at the beginning. In the second half, we had the proposal to hold the ball more, explore and, when we had the opportunity, kill the game. Everything went well, we came out with a good result, which we all wanted. That the coach can speak. I’m very happy and I think the whole group is.
– Game 4-0, our intensity at the beginning was exemplary, something nice to see. I don’t think we can limit ourselves to that. We have to wait for our coach to do an analysis, see what we have to improve and improve. Because with each game that happens it will be more difficult in the competition. Whoever wants to be a champion has to improve all the requirements to reach the final and be a champion.
Gilberto also highlighted Bahia’s goals in the Copa Sudamericana, the club’s great consumer dream since the start of the season.
– We really want it. It is something that we have in mind since the beginning of the year, little by little we are getting it. Always respecting the teams that will come, but we are capable of trying to go far, in the final and be champions.
