The Civil Police are investigating whether a bloody dispute over territory marked by more than 50 deaths in two decades is behind the murder of the offender Fernando Iggnácio Miranda, hit yesterday (10) in the afternoon by rifle shots to the head from a distance of 5 m in Heliport parking lot in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, west of Rio.

A preliminary analysis managed to identify the movement of suspicious vehicles at the time of the murder.
Sources linked to the Civil Police assure that the snipers opened fire from a wall towards the parking lot where the victim was. On the run, they used a ladder to climb a 3 m wall after crossing an area of forest on a 15,000 m² vacant lot. The ladder was also seized, to see if it is possible to take the fingerprints of those suspected of participating in the murder.

The dispute over the territory of hunting animals leaves more than 50 dead
The dispute over the control of petty crime in western Rio is the main line of investigation into Iggnácio’s death. According to investigations by the Federal Police, more than 50 murders up to 2007 are attributed to the war of contravention.
In 1998, the murder of Paulo Andrade, Paulinho, chosen heir to the hunting of animals, made Fernando Iggnácio, his brother-in-law, take his place in the dispute.
Months later, the police identified former Prime Minister Jadir Simeone Duarte as the author of the shots. In testimony, Duarte accused Rogério of being the mastermind of the crime.
