The decision of the Rio de Janeiro Regional Labor Court, which favored Flamengo and determined the suspension of the Rio de Janeiro club’s game against Palmeiras, this Sunday, in São Paulo, for the Brazilian Championship, provoked a reaction from the leaders of other clubs of the Series. The Brazilian Championship. Atlético-MG, Corinthians, Grêmio, Internacional, Atlético-GO and Goiás were some of those who spoke out against the decision in the Common Room.

Andrés Sánchez, president of Corinthians, directly attacked Flamengo, benefiting from the decision. He suggested detaining the Brazilian, in a message posted on his Twitter profile.

“The biggest problem in football is when a club only thinks about that and nothing else. To suspend a match is to suspend the protocol that everyone has agreed on. Better then to paralyze the entire championship”

The president of Atlético-MG affirmed that the sports regulations are clear regarding the use of “Common Justice” and that the law should be for everyone.

– The regulations are clear, with very severe sanctions: clubs cannot claim or benefit from the decisions of “Common Justice” on the organization of competitions. That is why it is good to remember: the clubs are united and attentive. The times are different. Rivals only on the field. The law is for everyone – wrote the official on his official Twitter profile.

International – Rodrigo Caetano (soccer executive)

– What International defends is the question of isonomy. This is true for the public, for the suspension of games, of the number of contaminated athletes. That a decision made for a particular club is the same for the others, in every way. We arrived at a totally atypical, sad moment, it reached humanity. And we tend to assess the problem within a normal range when it is not with us. And it is not like that. If we think of Flamengo, who spent a week traveling between hotels, another country, immigration, we will also face this trip tomorrow. Not in the same number of days, but we will all have eight hours on a plane, proven, negative, but we are going to enter another country and we are all at risk. And there is no way. Let’s go like this and don’t use any kind of crutch. We would love for all of this to end. But what is true for everyone is also true for Inter. And vice versa.

Grêmio – Paulo Luz (vice president of football)

– As regards Palmeiras x Flamengo, it is an issue that remains narrow and needs to be resolved at the level of the CBF and the clubs involved. What Grêmio has been doing all this time is strictly following health protocols. And we are very proud to have performed over 2,000 tests. Tomorrow we will arrive in Porto Alegre and we have the deadline for the PCR tests for the Libertadores is 2:00 p.m. It is these protocols that have given security to our team.

Goiás – Marcelo Almeida (President)

– I look at him with great sadness. Instead of us, football clubs, coming together to fight this pandemic with ideas through a group, we show total disunity and each one defending his own interest. In no case do I approve of this attitude of Flamengo mainly because I experienced it on my skin. We had the first game (against São Paulo) which was atypical, it did not exist, however, in the two games of the sequence against Atlético-PR and Palmeiras we went to the game as we were, similar to the situation with Flamengo. This is very scary mainly because it has been appealed to the Common Justice and, from what I understand, it is not allowed. So I’m afraid of what direction the Brazilian Championship will take from now on. Hope we can review everything that is happening. I, like the vast majority of clubs in Brazil, reproach Flamengo’s attitude.

Atlético-GO – Adson Batista (president)

– I see it with great concern for having brought the Common Justice and I am very afraid for the championship. Nothing against A or B, the biggest problem is that it can even close the door of the clubs and make the championship unfeasible.

Sette Câmara’s reaction is a reflection of the discomfort shown, behind the scenes, by other Brazilian clubs with Flamengo. According to the PVC blog, clubs have shown disgust with rubro-black attitudes since the beginning of the discussion on the return of football to Brazil, in the midst of the new coronavirus pandemic. In the middle of the week, the meeting to discuss the gradual return of the fans to the stadiums was another chapter.

The TRT’s decision determined the suspension of the match, after an action filed by Sindeclubes, a union that represents employees of the Rio de Janeiro clubs. In the petition, the entity alleged “high risk of contagion” from the coronavirus. The president of Sindeclubes is José Pinheiro dos Santos, Flamengo’s security officer.

CBF appealed to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), but the agency denied the request on Sunday. Thus, the game is suspended, due to the previous decision. On Saturday night, the STJD rejected Flamengo’s request for a review. According to the organ’s understanding, there are conditions for the pairing to take place. Even so, the TRT decision is still valid.
