The extension of emergency aid to those most affected by the covid-19 pandemic is already a consensus among senators, who defend the urgent discussion of the issue. The federal government has indicated that it is negotiating the payment of a new aid to informal workers to succeed the benefit paid since last year and whose last transfers were made at the end of January.

“The pandemic is not over and emergency aid must return! We will have an extensive discussion on the subject this week in the Federal Senate. And I will support the continuity of the aid, ”Senator Rose de Freitas (MDB-ES) announced on the Internet.

Senator Weverton (PDT-MA) is another demanding a definition of aid. Earlier this year, he presented a project (PDL 1/2021) to extend the state of public calamity in the country for another six months.

“It is necessary to find mechanisms to continue offering this condition of support to workers and people directly affected by this crisis. And I presented here in Congress a project to reissue the state of public calamity in Brazil, so that, with this, the government can break the so-called golden rule, and can organize the conditions for it within the budget, “he said.

The news that the government is studying the creation of a new emergency aid to be paid, initially, in three installments of R $ 200 for informal workers who are not on the Bolsa Família was criticized by Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) . The senator believes that the crisis continues and was aggravated by rising unemployment and high food prices, affecting mainly the poorest population.

For Humberto, the National Congress must vote to guarantee the payment of the benefit with a higher amount, as happened in 2020, when the parliamentarians approved the aid from R $ 600 until the end of the year. He pointed out that the initial position of the government was not to pay and then transfer fees in the amount of R $ 200 for just three months.

“I am sure that the National Congress, with pressure from the Brazilian population, will increase the value of this R $ 200 proposal presented by Bolsonaro. Above all because we are experiencing an inflationary explosion, an increase in poverty, the return of hunger and the increase in inequality ”, he stressed.

The Mixed Parliamentary Front in Defense of Basic Income, made up of 12 senators and more than 190 deputies, is also mobilizing in defense of the extension of emergency aid and the expansion of the Bolsa Família Program.

The leader of the Pode, Álvaro Dias (PR), republished the news about the government’s proposal to demand the participation of workers, with authorized benefit, in a training course offered by the S System agencies in alliance with the Ministry of Economy. The senator is asking people for their opinion on social media.

Senator Fabiano Contarato (Rede-ES) commented on another federal government proposal to associate the benefit, renamed the Productive Inclusion Bonus (BIP), to the Green and Yellow Portfolio and the release through tax adjustment.

“Emergency aid is urgently needed. While Bolsonaro neglects his duties to the country, hunger knocks at the door of the Brazilian people, abandoned to their fate. We have a budget of R $ 1.5 billion: it is not a question of resources, therefore, but of priorities! “Said the senator.
