BRASÍLIA – Senator Kátia Abreu (PP-TO) entered the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, in São Paulo, on Saturday, after a worsening of her Covid-19 infection. According to his advisor, the tests showed an advance in the inflammation of the lungs, but there is no severity.

According to the press office, Kátia Abreu is medicated and well. The use of a respirator was not necessary and hospitalization was not in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The senator announced last Tuesday that she had a positive diagnosis for Covid-19, after other members of her team also contracted the disease. “I’m fine with the back pain and a little discomfort,” he wrote at the time, on a social network.

The advance of the inflammation in the lungs, however, required hospitalization so that he could have a medical control of his condition.

Several officials in Brasilia, including parliamentarians, federal government ministers and President Jair Bolsonaro himself, have been diagnosed with Covid-19 since the pandemic reached Brazil.
