The second phase of emergency aid began this week. Now, the so-called emergency residual aid, as it was called, will pay R $ 300 per installment. Beneficiaries can receive up to four installments, since the monthly payment ends in December.
With the new eligibility rules and the payment ending in December, regardless of how many installments have been paid, the Ministry of Citizenship estimates that a total of six million beneficiaries will be left out. The ministry anticipates this cut due to stricter criteria established by the government.
Following the suggestion of the Federal Court of Audit (TCU), stricter rules were established to prevent fraud. It is estimated that an improper payment of R $ 42 billion was made in the program.
According to the decree, R $ 300 will be excluded from those who obtained formal employment in recent months and from those who have income and assets incompatible with the rule adopted to obtain the benefit.
It should also be remembered that, although the 2018 income tax return was taken into account in the first phase, now the 2019 return will be taken into account.
And the cut of one or more installments can occur because the aid ends up being paid at the end of December. Those who registered and were approved after April will not receive the four installments of R $ 300. With the new extension, the government estimates a saving of R $ 22.8 billion.
