Emergency aid was extended until December with a new value

In early September, President Jair Bolsonaro confirmed the extension of emergency aid. However, to ensure fiscal responsibility, the amount of the benefit had to be reduced.

Thus, four more installments of R $ 300 will be deposited. In total, nine installments will be paid, ensuring the payment of the aid until December. The extension was made official through a Provisional Measure, which has yet to be approved by deputies and senators.

According to the president, the value seems little to those who receive it, but it costs a lot to those who pay. According to calculations by the economic team, the monthly cost of the program for the Federal Government was around R $ 50 billion in the first stage of emergency aid.

The benefit is aimed at informal and self-employed workers, individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEI), the unemployed and the low-income population in general, as a measure to face the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
