New images obtained by “Fantástico” this Saturday (21), recorded by security cameras in a unit of the Carrefour supermarket, in Porto Alegre, show the beginning of the confusion before the brutal murder of João Alberto by two security guards on Thursday by the night (19). Look up.

João Alberto Silveira Freitas, 40, was beaten and killed on the eve of Black Awareness Day.

The video shows, in a different angle from the images released on Friday, the beginning of the attacks and the immobilization of João Alberto, which lasted more than five minutes, even with requests for help.

João Alberto’s father, João Batista Rodrigues Freitas, said in an interview with Jornal Nacional on Friday (20): “Even if it was a punch, I don’t think it’s a reason to take a person’s life.”. He called the murder of his son a “cowardly assault” and an “act of racism.”

“I start from the idea that it is not possible [o filho] suffer aggression if there was no reason for anger, fury. For me, it is an act of racism, ”said João Batista.

He was shopping with his wife when there was a disagreement with a local employee.

He called security, who took João Alberto to the parking lot, where the assaults occurred.

João Alberto was buried this Saturday morning (21), in Porto Alegre. Friends and family paid a final tribute to the victim.

The two attackers, 24-year-old military police officer Giovane Gaspar da Silva and 30-year-old security guard Magno Braz Borges, were arrested on the spot and pre-trial detention was ordered on Friday afternoon.

Carrefour said in a note that it deeply regrets the case, that it has initiated a rigorous internal investigation and has taken steps to ensure that those responsible are legally punished.

The chain, which attributed the attack to the security guards, also described the act as criminal and announced the breach of the contract with the company responsible for the aggressor employees.
