A security guard who tried to prevent two black children from eating at the ViaShopping Barreiro food court in Belo Horizonte provoked the outrage of other customers who were in the place. The approach was filmed and the video went viral on social networks, generating accusations that the employee was racist by asking the boys to leave the mall.
In the video, made last Thursday (26), the security guard approaches the boys who are sitting at one of the tables having lunch in the food court. According to customer reports on social media, the children had bought snacks and were sitting without causing any confusion.
Noticing the security guard’s attitude, other customers reach out to help the children. “You can sit there boy, I’m filming. You can’t eat, what’s that. Nobody accepts this kind of treatment anymore, you can let the boy eat,” says a woman filming the scene. “The person buys food and has no right to eat,” he adds.
On a note, the ViaShopping Barreiro repudiated the episode. “The episodes based on segregation do not represent the values that have sustained the establishment for almost two decades. Our premise is to welcome everyone; we are a plural, diverse environment that provides positive experiences and any attitude that does not corroborate this will be vehemently opposed. “says the statement.
Still in the text, the shopping center says that “it is going to fight so that all people enjoy ViaShopping Barreiro with dignity and respect” and that “the fact” is already “fighting”. However, the mall did not specify what measures will be applied against the employee in the case.
