The Social Defense Secretariat of Pernambuco (SDS-PE) reported that it had initiated an investigation to investigate the shooting that involved the Major of the Military Police (PM) Dinamérico Barbosa da Silva Filho and the state prison agent Ricardo de Queiroz Costa, in Boa Viagem, South Zone of Recife, on Saturday night (5). According to the statement, the investigation is being carried out by the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP). “The two suspects of participating in the exchange of shots were found and arrested, on the spot, and will be responsible for the crimes of homicide and attempted murder. Military Police are detained and, as soon as they have health conditions, they will give testimony before the Civil Police ”, says the statement.
According to the SDS, the investigation is gathering other elements, in terms of witnesses, images and criminal experts. Shortly after the crime, the two suspects were arrested on the spot, where they will answer for the crimes of murder and attempted murder. Because they are also public safety officials, other administrative processes will take place. “Those involved will respond to a Disciplinary Administrative Process, carried out by the SDS Department of Internal Affairs. The corporations to which they belong, the Military Police and the Executive Secretariat for Resocialization, have also initiated investigations to investigate possible administrative infractions.

The policemen from Battalion 19, responsible for the neighborhood, were summoned to investigate the crime at the scene. According to the PM-PE, there was a fight between the major and the prison guard in a bar on Rua Professor José Brandão, in Boa Viagem, where shots were fired. There were seven victims in total, one dead at the scene and another who died after being admitted to a hospital in Recife. Five more were injured, including the officer and the oldest. The prison worker is in the ICU and the PM is under observation.
“As soon as the incident occurred, policemen from Battalion 19, responsible for the territory, arrived at the scene and began the procedures for the isolation of the area and the seizure of weapons, in addition to providing assistance to the victims. The Criminalistics Institute carried out the investigations of the crime scene and the Civil Police initiated the investigation, ”explains the PM.
