With both teams chasing the national title, matchday 38 of the Brazilian Championship may award fans with another exciting São Paulo x Flamengo, and this time it is worth the cup. The confrontation is scheduled for February 24, 2021 in the capital of São Paulo.
Until then, however, Flamengo and São Paulo must remain among the title candidates, in a dispute that also occasionally includes Atlético-MG and Inter, in addition to emerging campaigns for Palmeiras and Grêmio.
The rojinegros share the attention of Serie A with the Libertadores, currently in the round of 16, while the tricolor of São Paulo continue in the Copa do Brasil, as semifinalists.
If this hypothesis of a decisive match is confirmed in February 2021, the Cariocas will have to break a huge taboo: Rubro-negro has not won their rival since 2017. On that occasion, they won 2-0, with goals from Diego and Guerrero. Curiously, this match culminated in the dismissal of Rogério Ceni at the head of Tricolor. Since then, there have been five victories for São Paulo and three draws, with three of these victories in Maracanã.
The ingredients are diverse and the rivalry between two of the biggest teams in Brazil (and idol x club) has everything to be accentuated in the last game of the season.
