São Paulo sold forward Brenner to FC Cincinnati, United States, in the ball market. The agreement was signed this morning (4) by the board and represents the largest negotiation of a South American player with Major League Soccer (MLS). The values are still treated confidentially.
The 21-year-old forward was out of training this morning at the Barra Funda CT due to negotiations with the North American club. The departure was a request from the athlete himself to the new management of the club, led by Julio Casares. He wanted to leave Tricolor São Paulo after the proposal he received from the United States team.
With no cash to seek reinforcements and with many debts, São Paulo was forced to negotiate the Brennero. The board of directors will have to pay part of the salaries and image rights of its cast starting in March, according to the agreement of Alexandre Bird and Raí, members of the previous administration, and it needs resources to comply with what was previously agreed. In total, the club will disburse R $ 14.1 million in salary installments.
In addition, there will be an athlete exchange between São Paulo and FC Cincinnati starting next season. The clubs have started an association that will involve players from the grassroots divisions.
With the negotiation with FC Cincinnati, Brenner will already be out of the game against Ceará, next Wednesday (10), at 9pm (from Brasilia), in Morumbi. The game is valid for round 35 of the Brasileirão.
Brenner has scored 22 goals in 44 games played this season. The 21-year-old forward is São Paulo’s top scorer this season. It was one of the highlights of the team led by Fernando Diniz until last Monday (1st).
