Coritiba and São Paulo drew 1-1 today (4), at the Couto Pereira stadium, for the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship. The tricolor of São Paulo had two goals disallowed and failed to break the defensive block formed by the team led by Jorginho. The goals of the match were scored by Robson, for the local team, and Reinaldo, who scored from a penalty.
With the tie, São Paulo reaches its seventh game without victory, adding matches from Libertadores and Brasileirão and falls to fifth place in the national, surpassed by Palmeiras and Flamengo. Coxa, in turn, remains in the relegation zone, in 17th position, with 12 points.
The paulista tricolor returns to the field on Wednesday (7), against Atlético-GO, at the Morumbi stadium, at 8:30 p.m. (Brasilia time). Coritiba, for his part, travels to Porto Alegre to face Grêmio, also on Wednesday, at Arena do Grêmio, at 7.15pm.
The best: Robson stands out with a beautiful goal
The match between the two teams did not have many flashy moments. One of the plays that is saved is the goal of Robson, Coritiba forward. He threw a free kick at the corner, with no defense for Tiago Volpi.
The worst: Juanfran falters, and Coritiba reaches the goal
At 5 minutes into the first stage, Robson scored from a free kick. The offense was marked because the Spanish team failed and had to stop the kickback of the thigh, which caused the goal of the local team.
Coritiba congests the area and explores counterattack
The team led by Jorginho entered the field with a clear proposal: to stay with the eleven players in the defense field and explore the spaces left by São Paulo in the counterattack.
When the home team did not have possession of the ball, the defense had a line of five athletes, and only Robson and Gabriel got the ball from São-Paulina.
Without creativity, São Paulo abuses the aerial ball
Fernando Diniz’s team was unable to triangulate and had difficulty piercing the white boom. With that, many long balls were the solution to reach the attack.
By the time an athlete was able to reach the baseline, they had no options to enter the area. For this reason, almost always the ball was crossed and cleared by the Coritiba defense without difficulties.
São Paulo has two goals canceled
The tricolor of São Paulo scored in the 18th minute of the first half, with Luciano -who took advantage of the rebound after Pablo’s submission-, but assistant Thiago Henrique Farinha pointed out that the jersey was impeded 9, and the VAR confirmed the irregularity in the play.
In the second stage, São Paulo scored in the 14th minute of the second half, with Brenner didn’t rebound from Wilson, but once again the referee marked offside for Luciano, who at the beginning of the play finished off the defense of the Coritiba goalkeeper.
Game timeline
At 5 minutes into the first half, forward Robson took advantage of a foul committed by Juanfran and scored a beautiful goal in the collection, without a chance for Tiago Volpi.
In the second stage, São Paulo drew 24 minutes into the second half with Reinaldo from a penalty. The offense was marked after Daniel Alves took a free kick in the area and midfielder Hugo Moura blocked with his arm.
