The São Paulo Soccer Federation (FPF) denied Santos’s request to postpone the match against São José, scheduled for this Wednesday, at 3:00 p.m., at the Ulrico Mursa stadium, for the last day of the first phase of the Paulista Championship Female. The club is experiencing a Covid-19 outbreak. The town sirens are already classified.

In contact with the ge, President Orlando Rollo assured that Santos will not enter the field and said that he had already communicated the decision to the president of the FPF, Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos. Therefore, the team will lose by WO, before the match is judged by the Court of Sport Justice (TJD).

– We asked for the game to be postponed, but this morning they denied us. We are studying with the legal team how we will position ourselves – said Felipe Ximenes, Santos sports superintendent, in an interview this Wednesday.

The club released the following official note, in which it says that it also requested the cancellation of the game:

“Given the negative postponement of the Santos FC and São José match, this Wednesday (11), at the Ulrico Mursa stadium, for the Paulista Feminine Championship, by the Directorate of Competitions of the São Paulo Football Federation, the Club requested the cancellation of the match in question, valid for the last round of the group stage of the tournament.

We understand the circumstances of the FPF due to lack of dates and, in order to continue the competition, out of respect for our fans and the rest of the participating teams, we request the cancellation of the match without attribution of subsequent sanction, as it is force majeure .

In the same sense, considering the exceptional situation, Santos FC will send a communication on the facts to the TJD-SP, presenting the Covid-19 exams of the athletes and members of the coaching staff ”.

The FPF also released a note clarifying the denial to the club:

“On Tuesday night (10) Santos FC formally requested the São Paulo Football Federation to postpone the match against São José, for the Paulista Women’s Championship, scheduled for 3 pm on Wednesday (11), due to an outbreak Covid-19 among its athletes.

The request for postponement was denied by the FPF due to restricted hours that made new dates impossible. In addition, this match is part of the last round of the first phase of the competition, in which all matches must be played together on the same date.

Later, on Wednesday afternoon, Santos FC sent a new request to the FPF, this time requesting the cancellation of the match.

In this way, the FPF regrets to inform that the match between Santos x São José has been canceled, and São José will be declared the winner by the score of 3 to 0, as provided in the General Competition Regulations of the FPF “.
