With 95 new patients diagnosed with coronavirus, Santa Catarina records 3,828 cases on Wednesday (13) and continues with 73 deaths caused by the disease. Of the total contaminated, 2,132 have already recovered from the disease and another 1,623 are still being treated. The update was made by the state government at a press conference later this afternoon.
Hospitalized in beds of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), in public and private networks, there are 123 patients, 10 more compared to the previous day. Of these, 76 have already had a positive diagnosis for the new coronavirus and another 47 are still under investigation. In all, 68 use a mechanical ventilator to breathe, the state said.
Currently, 501 ICU beds are reserved for people with coronavirus infection by the Unified Health System (SUS). The occupation is 19.6%, reported the Secretary of State for Health, André Motta Ribeiro, in live broadcast. And for every 100,000 inhabitants, Santa Catarina has 16.6 intensive care beds.
– More than 50% of patients recover and are theoretically immune to the coronavirus. More than 2,000 people recovered and it is a victory, it is a greater number of recovered – celebrated the secretary.
The average time in ICU beds has increased for a patient who requires more cautious treatment in relation to the disease. The average of 12 days previously hospitalized is now around 14.2 days and generates an alert to the state government. The case fatality rate in SC remains at 1.91%.
– This is an interesting fact when we compare it with the rest of Brazil. We have very clear protocols for the care of these patients and very well prepared teams, and these data show us that we have obtained the results of the work done, he said.
Low insulation index
The social isolation rate is still quite low in Santa Catarina. According to André Motta Ribeiro, on Wednesday (13) the indicators show that only 39.2% of the population complies with the orientation to stay home.
– Today our state is among the worst in the country. We need to improve this number – said the secretary of health.
Governor Carlos Moisés da Silva (PSL) also spoke about the data and said that, just as it happened in European countries, the cooperation of the population in Santa Catarina will be essential to face the disease.
– Now we will enter a period of low temperatures and we will be able to influence the southern region of the country. It can contribute to the worsening of this crisis and shows us that we must be very focused. This rate of decreased insulation may indicate that we are returning to normal and are not. We had a record of only Covid-19 deaths in the country today and we may not yet have reached the peak of the difficulties of the disease – Moisés warned
Return of public transport.
State government recognized as essential and announced that it will launch public transport services in Santa Catarina. The resumption date for services, however, has not yet been defined. A meeting with companies in the sector is scheduled for this Thursday (14), to detail the health rules that have already been built by the team from the Emergency Health Operations Center (Coes).
Even with the issuance of an ordinance, the circulation of public transportation may not occur in all regions of the state, the SC chief executive reported. According to Moisés, in addition to the demand for the service, the indicators of transmissibility and availability of local beds in the ICU will be taken into account during the preparation of the ordinance.
