More than 25 thousand liters of water have already been used to quell the flames of the fire that affected the House of Manufacturers, located next to the Central Market, in downtown Fortaleza, on Saturday night 5. The roof of the property was collapsed and the structure cracks. On site are five Fire Department garrisons, plus an ambulance, a magirus ladder, and a search and rescue garrison.

The control of the flames must begin at dawn on Sunday, the day that one of the busiest fairs in the state takes place near Casarão. The forecast is that, on Sunday morning, the aftermath will continue to occur, an operation that extinguishes the remaining flames. It is not yet known what caused the fire.

According to information from the Fire Department, there were no victims and the flames did not reach the Central Market. The Municipal Traffic Authority (AMC) is on site guiding the surrounding traffic. The smoke could be seen from other points in the Fortress.

The Casarão dos Manufacturers is one of the oldest buildings in Fortaleza that is still preserved, whose construction was in the first half of the 19th century. The Central Avenue Palace, as it was initially known, is in the process of provisional cataloging, according to the Ceará Yearbook.
